Women in Design 2017

Design for Social Engagement

26-28th May, 2017

The annual Women in Design Colloquium is devoted to supporting an all-female speaker event, in the field of contemporary design. After two successful years, Women in Design has attracted professional and emerging participants from all over Australia to converge in Launceston Tasmania, creating an intimate environment for succession, discussion and professional development. By dedicating a colloquium to women in the design professions, it is hoped that the numbers of females entering design programs at university will increase, thereby augmenting their numbers in academia, and public and private businesses and industry. Additionally, through attendance at Women in Design 2017, emerging female design professionals will be introduced to mentors for future projects and careers.

The Colloquium helps to foster positive influences and understanding of the power of relationships, connection, and engaging with the world openly.  It is an intimate environment where women in design can discuss their work, processes and more generally how they navigate life to bring about positive outcomes.
