Design Tasmania seeks a new CEO
Design Tasmania, Tasmania’s leading design organisation, announces the departure of its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Jane Haley OAM. Prior to being appointed CEO, Ms Haley, served as a Board Director for the organisation from November 2021 until August 2023.
“Jane’s dedication to Design Tasmania over the years has contributed to the centre’s success and helped to build on the organisation’s reputation as Tasmania’s leading design centre,” said Megan Perkins, Chair of the Board of Design Tasmania. “Her nationally acknowledged professional reputation as an awarded arts and cultural administrator brought with it many benefits to Design Tasmania including connections in government and Australia’s cultural sector. The Board thanks Jane for her leadership and support.”
Prior to joining Design Tasmania Ms Haley’s arts leadership roles include CEO of the Australia Business Arts Foundation (AbaF) (2007 - 2012), Senior Policy Advisor to Hon Mary Delahunty MP, Victoria’s Minister for the Arts, Senior Policy Officer with Arts Queensland, and General Manager of the Arts Council of Australia (ACT).
In 2014 after a 30-year absence on the ‘big island’ Ms Haley returned to her home state – Tasmania. Shortly after she took up the role of CEO of Ten Days on the Island, Tasmania’s international arts festival (2015 – 2021).
Design Tasmania’s Board of Directors is undertaking a comprehensive search for its next CEO to lead the organisation and its people, with the support of the Board, to its next phase. They are seeking a person to build on the organisation’s achievements and reputation and look to the future including the celebration of Design Tasmania’s 50th Anniversary in 2026.
“Design Tasmania is committed to its mission to develop and present programs, activities and advocacy designed to embrace diversity, encourage inclusivity and champion professionalism, bringing design to as many as possible," said Ms Perkins, Chair. “We are confident in our ability to attract a highly capable and visionary leader who will continue driving our mission forward.”
Design Tasmania’s community thanks and wishes Jane the very best and acknowledges and appreciates the time she has dedicated to the organisation.
