Peter Costello

(b.1947–), Hobart TAS

Peter Costello trained as a violinist at the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music in the late 1960s. His varied career since then has encompassed music, high school teaching, and casual lecturing in design at the University of Tasmania, boatbuilding and furniture design. All are powerful factors in his creative life. Peter studied at the Centre for Furniture Design and was awarded a PhD from the University of Tasmania in 2003. He currently operates Costello Design Studio, through which he undertakes retail and domestic interiors as well as public and private furniture and design commissions.
