Upon receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Centre for Furniture Design at the University of Tasmania in 1996, Michael established a design practice, ALIAN, in association with an architecture graduate, a fashion designer and a graphic designer. In their work, the group explored the connections and cross overs between the different design disciplines. Michael now lives in Melbourne and works as a design consultant. His design practice focuses on the use of computer technologies to push the process of design and production away from the traditional one-off to a virtual process of prototyping and mass production.
