Jose the turner, and Trisha the finisher are a team who found peace and presence in the field of woodturning. They receive a sense of tranquillity from the bushland, which is reflected in their work. Jose ensures that the chosen piece of wood relates to the design and to an extent allows it to dictate the form that takes shape on his lathe. His mastery in producing bowls with fine aesthetic balance allows the natural highlights of the timber to show through at the time of making and develop throughout the life of the piece.

"I work from old trees usually. The wood was quite unique with that deep fiddleback grain, it came from a very large tree and I only had a small piece of it. So I knew that it should be for something quite special. I remember thinking that I had to keep the design quite simple and let the wood speak for itself."
