Craig Rosevear
(b.1961–), Hobart TAS
Craig Rosevears was awarded best graduate in architecture from the University of Tasmania in 1989 following which he worked in architecture in London and Hobart until starting his own practice in 1997. His first house design won the residential award for the Tasmanian division of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects in 1997. He sees his decision to study furniture design as a natural extension in the appraisal and appreciation of human environments. His design position is primarily rationalist – ‘the personality of an object is in the drawn line in the first instance and animated by the particularities of materials and the expression of their structural properties’.
